Why Your Faith Stand Didn’t Stand

I know of people who have been disappointed after having stood in faith for a particular outcome that didn’t come.

Their faith never faltered, as far as I know, and I am sure that God didn’t fail them.

What I have concluded is that there is an underlying faith on which our faith stands; and that paying attention to answered or unanswered stands of faith can do more to build this underlying faith than anything.

In business we understand that there is the decision, and there is the decision before the decision. The decision before the decision sets the parameters.  It existed before we walked into the room.  In business it has to do with budgets or focus or product or market.

In faith it has to do with what we really believe about God, the essence of Who we know Him to be. Knowing Him, truly knowing Him, is the prerequisite to believing He can do what we think He can do. We can have faith for healing, but do we really believe He is the Healer? We can have faith for provision, but do we really trust Him as Provider? This faith was there before we stood for anything else.

Pay attention to the faith behind your faith. Have you kept Him in a box? Who is He – really?

Interaction with our Creator – in failed or successful stands – builds intimacy with Him. And that is more valuable than the answer we wanted.
