It is Written But it is Useless, Unless…

We may pride ourselves on our knowledge of the Word and our ability to cite scripture; certainly an understanding of the Word of God is one of the most valuable things we can attain.

But when Jesus stated, “It is written” in response to the temptation of our shared enemy, the power wasn’t in the words as much as it was in the accurate confession of what was in operation in His own life.  He didn’t use the Word against satan, he used it in declaring His own stand, reinforced by His actions.

I would gladly trade 100 theologians who can accurately quote thousands of scripture for one believer who endeavors to live it.

Of course, the preference would be to have both the knowledge and the living application, but don’t wait to be sufficiently indoctrinated.  The power is present in living what you know.

Start there.
