The Forgotten Question

Jesus and His disciples were leaving Jericho when the cry rose from the roadside, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Blind Bartimaeus knew He was near.

As ambassadors for Christ and ministers of reconciliation we are His near Presence. Even the blind should see Him in us.

As we encounter them–the lost, the empty, the blind, the hurting–we can tune our ears to the cry of their desperate hearts as they long to see Jesus.

And then, like He did, we can respond with a question that seems to have long disappeared from the spiritual storehouse of words we have for the lost:

What do you want Me to do for you?

When Jesus left an interaction, the other person was always the one who became better-served, better-understood, or received better-understanding.

This is a great model for our ministry.
